About this event
Join us for an engaging and interactive dual workshop experience designed for both kids and adults at the Burchfield Penney Art Center. In "How to Talk to Grown-ups About Art," children aged 6-12 will learn to confidently articulate their artistic expressions through fun, hands-on activities. Participants will explore works by Charles Burchfield, engage in "looking" games to enhance their observation skills, and create Burchfield-inspired watercolor landscapes. The session culminates in a group share, where kids will practice describing their art and what they want their audience to appreciate.
Simultaneously, adults can participate in "How to Engage Children in the Art Museum," where they will discover playful, child-friendly methods to enhance museum visits and ignite curiosity through various activities, including movement exercises and creative storytelling. This workshop aims to provide parents, grandparents, and caregivers with tools to transform a typical museum experience into a captivating adventure for young minds.
Both workshops encourage family participation, concluding with an opportunity to explore the gallery together using the newly developed interactive activities. Led by experienced instructors Michaela Worosz and Kathy Shiroki, this event promises to merge art-making, observation, and storytelling for an enriching artistic journey.
