About this event

Join us for a tour of the new headquarters for FeedMore WNY, bringing the primary warehouse, commissary, administration, logistics, and training operations together onto one place. The result is a $110 million campus with a 218,800-square-foot regional headquarters facility and support buildings located in Hamburg, New York. Participants will learn how designing a single building that seamlessly connects industrial logistics with welcoming staff and public community spaces presented a unique architectural and engineering challenge. At the heart of the facility is the warehouse and commissary, a dedicated facility with state -of -the- art kitchen equipment supporting preparation of thousands of fresh and frozen meals daily. Participants will learn how the design supports the organization’s goal to expand its daily meal output so it can serve more recipients and community dining sites. The new commissary nearly triples the daily cooking and cold meal output, transforming FeedMore WNY’s capacity to serve an ever-increasing level of need in the community. Participants will observe design elements that align with the organizations’s mission of providing dignity, hope, and a brighter future through nutritious food, friendship, and skills training. To support an expansion of education and training programs, the new facility provides dedicated classrooms for workforce training and an instructional kitchen. The high-capacity storage and distribution warehouse features expansive dry storage racking and high-bay pallet racking. Adjoining the warehouse are vast, walk-in and drive-in freezers and coolers systems tailored to meet the facility’s stringent demands. This expanded capacity eliminates the need for offsite storage and enables them to accept high volume deliveries of fresh agricultural products and food donations that previously had to be declined due to storage constraints. The campus integrates a ¼-acre community garden, a deep winter greenhouse, and a hydroponic freight farm, enabling year-round produce cultivation using minimal water and energy resources.
