Alexandra McArthur is a Buffalo-based vocalist, composer, storyteller, and teaching artist known for her expressive voice, dynamic stage presence, and deeply personal approach to music. A four-time JazzBuffalo Female Vocalist of the Year, Alex has spent a decade performing across Western New York in jazz, classical, choral, and musical theatre settings, constantly challenging herself to reach new heights. It has been said her voice is a combination of Sarah Vaughan and Anita Baker, in touch with her soul and regularly pouring out undeniable feeling.
Her work has brought her to stages including Kleinhans Music Hall, PAUSA Art House, Buffalo AKG Art Museum, Asbury Hall, and the Burchfield Penney Art Center, as well as performances with ensembles throughout the Buffalo arts community. In 2026, Alex made her debut as a featured vocalist on the mainstage with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, adding another chapter to an evolving career rooted in collaboration, storytelling, and fearless musical expression.
Whether performing jazz, composing original work, teaching, or stepping into a theatrical role, Alex brings an unmistakable combination of warmth, intensity, and passion to everything she does. She is an artist continually expanding her voice and abilities, and invites audiences to come along for the ride.
Joining Alex for this special evening are three of her brothers in music; musicians who have helped shape, challenge, and mold her into the musical leader she continues to become:
Harry Graser - keys
Joe Goehle - bass
John Bacon - drums
