ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ More than 100 firefighters battled a barn fire on Friday afternoon in South Wales (at Centerline Road) amid extreme cold, using large-scale tanker operations to manage limited water supplies and rescue trapped animals as the cause is under investigation. ABC 7
- ➤ A house fire in Lockport displaced seven residents, with firefighters battling the blaze for more than four hours and causing about $200,000 in damage (tenants reported a tripped circuit breaker before the fire) while no injuries were reported. WGRZ

- ➤ Recent bitter cold in Buffalo has led to AAA crews working around the clock, with more than 3,000 daily calls and 650 vehicles serviced as drivers face dead batteries and long delays. Drivers are urged to take short trips regularly to keep their batteries charged. WGRZ

- ➤ Federal REAL ID rules that took effect Sunday require that passengers at Buffalo Niagara International Airport use compliant IDs (a driver's license with a gold star or an enhanced ID with a flag) to avoid $45 fees and travel delays; the airport’s 96 percent compliance rate exceeds the national average. - ➤ Local officials applied for a state grant to cover a $30 million sewer upgrade needed for a planned living center at Eastern Hills Mall in Clarence (a key step in the mall overhaul). Supervisor Patrick Casilio said the upgrade is vital to moving the project forward. The Buffalo News
