  • Hearts in Bloom Buffalo will deliver floral arrangements to over 200 widows on Feb. 14 to help ease the pain of loss in Buffalo. The service offers a heartfelt gesture on Valentine’s Day.  WGRZ
  • Buffalo local Edmond Baggs used his $1,000 prize from the Mineo's Pizza raffle to order three sheet pizzas and a bucket of wings to feed people experiencing homelessness downtown. The raffle supported local students and highlighted his act of generosity.  ABC 7
  • Colvin Cleaners is moving its annual Gowns for Prom program to a new headquarters at 2312 Elmwood Avenue and extending it to two months beginning March 3 — Cellino Plumbing is now accepting non-profit applications for a truck wrap contest, and CARFAX has named Total Automotive a 2025 Top-Rated Service Center.  WBEN

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On a bitter night in Elma, a driver who ran out of gas and had a dead phone was rescued by Lt. Mike Fontana of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police Department — his quick action likely prevented serious harm.  ABC 7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Manna @ Main started inside the historic Monroe Building in May 2025, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with dishes such as shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles (at Main and Lafayette). The restaurant also features a local art gallery to showcase community talent.  WGRZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Biking Bishop, a Buffalo native, is set to begin his final 4,800-mile ride this spring to award 2,500 scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 per semester to students. Registration is open until March 30 — the ride will cover several legs across the country to benefit qualifying scholars.  ABC 7
  • Catholic Academy of West Buffalo will consolidate with Our Lady of Victory Elementary School in Lackawanna next September as pre-K through eighth-grade students attend classes at OLV to support a sustainable model after the academy building was deemed too costly to repair.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Town Supervisor Earl Gingerich and residents in Marilla are debating a plan to turn a former bed and breakfast on Stolle Road into a shelter for 10 women facing domestic abuse (or trafficking). The Hein Foundation-backed proposal will be discussed at upcoming town board meetings amid safety and cost concerns.  WGRZ
  • Buffalo's stop-arm camera program has issued more than 52,000 tickets since October 2024, generating over $8 million to the city's general fund for violations of school bus rules. Some drivers are contesting their tickets, saying the cameras may not capture the full picture.  ABC 7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center said a new report shows 70% of cancer patients now live for five years or more. The study links better screening + treatment to improved survival rates for lung, myeloma, and other cancers.  WGRZ

  • Former Olympic ice dancer Kaitlin Hawayek began her skating journey in East Aurora as a child and, after competing in the 2022 Olympics, now coaches young athletes in Montreal to share the lessons she learned on the ice.  WGRZ
  • University at Buffalo linebacker Red Murdock has received an invitation to the NFL scouting combine, where he will show his skills to professional teams. The opportunity marks a promising step for local talent.  WGRZ
