- ➤ Future lifeguards took part in a training course at Cazenovia park pool over the weekend. The city of Buffalo is hiring 100 lifeguards (for the summer). WGRZ

- ➤ Buffalo fire crews responded to an apartment fire on Minnesota Avenue Sunday evening, displacing eight residents who are now receiving help from the Red Cross. WGRZ
- ➤ A fire on Young St. in Tonawanda forced 7 residents to leave an apartment and caused $300 thousand in damage; no injuries were reported. WGRZ
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Grammy-winning R&B singer Ashanti will return to perform with Trey Songz on June 4 at Terminal B. Tickets (available online) went on sale Friday, and three more Outer Harbor Live Concert Series dates have been announced for this summer. WGRZ
- ➤ Niagara Falls hosted the World's Shortest Parade on Saturday, uniting families with Irish music and dance — a 40-year tradition. Kevin O’Brien said participants marched in downtown Buffalo on Sunday during the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. WGRZ

- ➤ SUNY Erie's South Campus auction remains on hold as three classes still operate on the 100-acre site near Highmark Stadium. Most operations moved last year to 50 Cobham Drive in Orchard Park & the remaining courses must relocate before the sale. WGRZ

- ➤ Local politicians from both sides gathered at the Irish Center in South Buffalo on Friday at the Irish Civic Luncheon, a tradition dating back to 1971 plus now serving as the official kickoff to the campaign season. The event celebrated Buffalo’s Irish heritage and brought elected officials together. ABC 7
- ➤ Gov. Hochul and Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes continue to back a bid for New York to host the Winter Olympics, with a proposal that would split events between the New York metropolitan area and Lake Placid — a move expected to boost travel and business across the state. WBEN
- ➤ Buffalo Sewer Authority will invest $29 million in a West Side project designed to keep 8 million gallons of untreated sewage from entering Black Rock Canal annually — construction begins this spring. The Buffalo News
- ➤ Douglas Jemal’s Roycroft properties saw their assessed value cut from $1.48 million to $210,000 after the town agreed to an 85% reduction in a stipulation approved last month by State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Chimes—delivering a $1.2 million benefit. The Buffalo News
