- ➤ On Sunday, April 13 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Western New York Mountain Biking Association will host a Bike Swap Sale at Resurgence Brewing Company on Chicago St in Buffalo. The event will let local cyclists buy and sell bikes, parts, clothing and gear — and connect over their passion for cycling. Buffalo Rising
- ➤ Crossroads Coalition, a group of 10 local grassroots organizations, announced the creation of the Crossroads Community Fund—set to distribute about $1 million a year through three grant programs to support frontline communities in Buffalo. The fund will hold an information session at Merriweather Library on April 1 from 1 to 3 p.m—and donate $130,000 to the Refugee Partnership’s Crisis Response Fund to aid 731 refugees. Buffalo Rising

- ➤ North Tonawanda police charged former city worker David Fingerlow Jr. with second-degree sexual abuse and child endangerment while a fraud investigation is underway and canceled his junior varsity baseball coaching job, and his father also is charged with child endangerment, with police saying a local website revealed too many case details. The Buffalo News
- ➤ A judge set bail conditions for Darryl Lamont Paul (59), a Cheektowaga businessman facing drug and sex trafficking charges that include coercion allegations and an incident involving a 19-year-old woman. His release is scheduled for review on April 9 and will require him to live with his mother, wear an electronic monitoring device, and avoid contact with current and former employees. WGRZ
- ➤ Renay Lynch—who spent nearly 24 years in prison after being convicted of a murder she denies and missed important family events—gave her first interview from her apartment near Martin Luther King Jr. Park and now is suing local officials for alleged wrongful actions as she adjusts to life outside. - ➤ The Botanical Gardens opened a new indoor play space for kids yesterday—featuring educational signage and a Honey Hut market—so visitors can learn about plants and pollinators. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of regular museum admission. WGRZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Western New York schools are reaching out to more than 118,000 adults with some college credits to help them finish their degrees—programs include targeted scholarships and hands-on support from institutions like Canisius and Villa Maria. The state is also studying the SUNY Reconnect policy to boost enrollment and help working-age students return to school. The Buffalo News

- ➤ Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes from the 141st district said she will work to include Western New York women in the Smithsonian American Women's History Museum in Washington, D.C. as she serves on the museum's national advisory council and Congress must pass legislation to confirm the museum site while fundraisers raise half the cost for a project expected to cost more than 500 million dollars and may take 10 years to complete. - ➤ The University of Rochester's Wilmot Cancer Institute received National Cancer Institute designation, making it the 73rd center and one of eight in New York—six downstate and two upstate. Wilmot is recognized as a clinical cancer center while Roswell Park remains the only comprehensive center upstate, and both groups said they will work together, not compete. The Buffalo News
