- ➤ Today, the Vatican responded to ten local churches slated for closings or mergers under the Diocese of Buffalo’s Road to Renewal by suspending the changes during its review of their appeals. - ➤ Reverend Mark Blue said the 5-14 Memorial Commission has chosen a site for a permanent memorial but will not name its location yet as negotiations continue — the commission will soon form a foundation for donations to support the $15 million project already backed by $1 million from the city and $5 million from New York State — and he remains confident in steady progress. - ➤ A Buffalo man who spent decades in prison for a murder he was wrongly accused of has been awarded $28 million by a federal jury against Erie County. The Buffalo News
- ➤ A jury found Buffalo teen Jakai Lofton guilty of murder and criminal possession of a weapon for fatally shooting 21-year-old Quban Romell Najee Embry on Shirley Avenue on August 12, while co-defendant Anthony Borden pleaded guilty to manslaughter and Lofton will be sentenced on May 19. ABC 7
