  • Mister Sizzle’s will return next month in a pop-up food trailer at Shalooby Loofer Brewing Company in Clarence. Owners (Chris and Casey Casas) settled a legal dispute that led to the brand’s closure last year before planning its comeback.  WGRZ
  • FedEx will close its Cheektowaga distribution center on August 3 (as part of its network transformation strategy) but will still offer drop-off services while some employees receive new roles, with several state facilities also set to close later this summer.  WGRZ
  • Engineers at Calspan UB Research Center in Cheektowaga tested an Orion capsule heat shield to help ensure Artemis II’s safe return, with the crewed capsule scheduled to splash down in the Pacific Ocean tomorrow evening; their tests validated design changes made by Lockheed Martin for added safety.  WGRZ

  • Louis Mustillo, a South Buffalo native known for his roles on Mike and Molly and The Sopranos, returned last month as an honoree at the Buffalo Irish Civic Luncheon to reflect on how local support fueled his acting career — a journey of persistence and growth.  WBFO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delta Sonic is partnering with the NYSDOT to reinforce roads at five Western New York locations, including a site on Niagara Falls Boulevard where residents have faced long-standing potholes. The company will begin work as soon as the hot-patch supply becomes available.  ABC 7
  • City officials announced today that the switch from cold patch paving to hot mix asphalt will repair potholes on major roads (expected to boost durability and ease maintenance) across the city.  WBEN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center launched its first-of-its-kind Department of Indigenous Cancer Health to improve care for Native communities by building local partnerships and offering screenings, education, and research initiatives across Turtle Island. The program honors Haudenosaunee values and addresses treatment barriers.  WGRZ
  • New York mental health advocates are pushing for a 4% funding boost & expanded community-based services to reduce long hospital stays like those experienced by Emma Pratt, who faced extended treatment far from home due to limited local support.  WBFO

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Station Twelve in Amherst reaches a major milestone today as construction places its final beam and confirms 12 businesses, with tenants scheduled to begin opening on Oct. 15 and continue rolling into spring next year (traffic officials say parking and road flow will be monitored).  WGRZ
