- ➤ Eight months after a quiet ownership transition, Rock Burger is making portfolio changes to prepare for future growth under new ownership by partners Brandon Markant and Derrick Ferraro—B&D Rock Enterprises. The partners, who finalized a deal with founder Jason Lizardo last summer, operate locations at 502 Elmwood Ave in Buffalo and 2810 Union Road in Cheektowaga—efforts expected to boost the brand's growth. - ➤ Payton Gendron, the racist Tops mass shooter who killed ten people nearly three years ago, appeared in a federal court in Buffalo Thursday as his death penalty trial moves forward (jury selection will begin in January) after the judge denied a full-year delay the defense requested. ABC 7
- ➤ Matthew Glass, a 25-year-old from Georgia, was sentenced on Thursday morning in Niagara Falls to 41 years to life in prison for fatally shooting 48-year-old Robert Miller in October 2023 while the victim sat in his car (he was convicted of second-degree murder) (Niagara County prosecutors handled the case). - ➤ Charles Dobucki — a property owner with multiple neglect warrants and housing court citations — was arrested Thursday by Buffalo Police at an auto shop on Delaware Avenue in North Buffalo on charges that include three housing court warrants and false impersonation. WBEN
- ➤ A Buffalo teen, Jakai Lofton, 19, was found guilty of murder and weapon possession for a fatal shooting on Shirley Avenue in a 2023 case — he will be sentenced in May and can get up to 40 years to life in jail. WGRZ

- ➤ Villa Maria College recorded its highest enrollment ever when it opened the $3 million Scott Bieler Center for Academic Excellence on April 2—transforming a 20,000-square-foot space in the main building into a hub for study and support. The college now has 615 students with its largest class of 280, and officials said the new center will help students succeed and feel more connected. The Buffalo News
