  • The Central Terminal Neighborhood Association organized a cleanup in Broadway-Fillmore District to remove trash and debris from vacant lots, helping improve the local environment.  WGRZ
  • Beebe’s on the Square opened in Lafayette Square inside the Brisbane Building in March. The Mediterranean inspired restaurant serves locally sourced food and displays work from local artists (with weekly paint and sip events, trivia nights, jazz music, and upcoming patio seating) to connect the community.  WGRZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Locust Street Art hosts Portrait-A-Thon today where artists create live portraits and offer visitors a choice of a quick caricature or a full-hour portrait. The event brings a personal art experience to the Buffalo community — a chance to engage with local talent.  WGRZ
  • Howard Jones brings 80s hits to Artpark in Lewiston on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. with support from Wang Chung, The English Beat, and Modern English as part of his Things Can Only Get Better tour.  WGRZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A bill in Albany proposes a pet tax credit that would offer food (up to $150) and veterinary care (up to $300) per pet—capped at $900 per household—and is now under committee review. Supporters say it may help families keep their pets despite rising costs.  WGRZ
