  • Scene One Market Arcade theater on Main Street will reopen next Wednesday, April 22—showing Bruce Almighty and The Natural after its early-year closure.   • Buffalo will celebrate 50 years of its Juneteenth Festival this year with a parade expected to feature over 5,000 participants marching a mile from Genesee Street to Urban and Fillmore, with additional events at MLK Jr. Park on June 13 and 14.  WGRZ
  • The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens expansion is 55% complete and will add ADA-accessible entrances, a bus drop-off loop, new classrooms & an event space called The Canopy early 2027.  WGRZ

  • Three UB undergraduates have been named 2026 Barry Goldwater Scholars for their STEM research and plans to study for a PhD. The honor highlights promising talent in science and boosts Buffalo’s academic profile.  The Buffalo News

  • Fire leaders in Orchard Park urged the state legislature to pass a bill allowing a stipend of up to $12,000 a year for volunteer firefighters amid a 40% drop in numbers that forced some departments to close — they warned more closures could follow if no action is taken.  ABC 7

  • Local restaurants will share part of their sales on April 30 during Dining Out For Life, a campaign designed to help fund HIV services & prevention efforts in the community.  WGRZ
