The Dyngus Day Parade will start at 5:30 p.m. on April 21 with a route that begins at Memorial Drive and ends at Fillmore Avenue.

Traffic will be heavy in the Broadway-Fillmore area as Broadway from Wilson Street to Young Street and Fillmore Avenue from Sycamore Street to Paderewski Drive are closed from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. — organizers advise arriving early to secure parking.

Jeff Lebsack of The Riverline is restarting Jane’s Walk in the Moore Street neighborhood to connect residents with Buffalo’s rich history through a 90-minute tour starting Friday, May 2 at 2 p.m. The walk will continue along Chicago Street and end at Resurgence (a local gathering space) to encourage people to experience the neighborhood on foot.

Scientists in Buffalo developed a nanoparticle-based vaccine that showed 100% protection in mice against a deadly H5N1 bird flu strain — the study was published in a peer-reviewed journal this week.

Lead researcher Dr. Jonathan Lovell said further confirmation studies will test the vaccine and examine its potential to protect livestock from similar viruses.
