- ➤ The 5/14 Memorial Foundation held a focus group at Calvary Baptist Church in Buffalo on Wednesday to gather community input for a living memorial planned for Jefferson Ave + Best Street, with fundraising for the $20 million project ongoing and three more sessions scheduled through May 6. ABC 7
- ➤ Airport plow drivers competed in the annual Buffalo Snowplow Rodeo at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport yesterday, testing their skills on a course with challenges including the plunger (and complicated dock backup). Brayden Hendry of Colorado Springs won the championship while workers also attended classes during the accompanying Snow Symposium. WBFO
- ➤ West Side Community Services in Buffalo will hold its annual Chops (cooking competition) to raise funds for over five thousand community members. The event supports local services and is a cherished part of the city’s tradition. WGRZ

- ➤ Owner Harry Stinson said he secured financing from a Tampa investor to reopen the Buffalo Grand Hotel — closed since a Dec. 2021 fire — as he works to meet a deadline set by Mayor Sean Ryan's administration. He expects to announce further progress soon. ABC 7

- ➤ Union Pacific announced that Big Boy No. 4014 will arrive in Buffalo this June. Enthusiasts can view the 133-foot locomotive on Wednesday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Walden Galleria Mall's north side and use a free shuttle to avoid parking issues. WBFO

- ➤ Dr. Jennifer Burris has been named president of SUNY Buffalo State University + replacing Interim President Dr. Bonita Durand + and her appointment will take effect July 1. ABC 7
- ➤ Canisius University has launched a new accelerated track with Western Atlantic University School of Medicine — a program letting 24 students earn a bachelor’s and medical degree in six years. It includes two years at Canisius, two in the Bahamas, and two years of clinical work in Chicago starting this fall. WBFO

- ➤ Cindy Eller led the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation for nearly 40 years as it raised $700 million for cancer research, patient support and care. Her work shaped key programs and will keep impacting community health. WGRZ
