- ➤ Double Apple Foods owner Tony Ahmed paused expansion plans due to concerns that a proposed tax levy might force a rent increase for his landlord. The Common Council is reviewing Mayor Ryan’s budget proposal, with a decision due by May 26. WGRZ
- ➤ Following a software upgrade, NYSEG admitted that its billing statements showed incorrect temperature data for April—an error that did not match recent meteorological estimates. The utility said it is taking steps to ensure future bills display the correct information. WGRZ

- ➤ The World’s Largest Rubber Duck will return to Canalside during Independence Weekend festivities from July 3 through July 5, featuring photo ops and duck-themed activities. The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform on July 3 at Terminal B at 7 p.m. with fireworks following later. ABC 7
- ➤ A new Christmas movie — Christmas at The Starlight — is set to be filmed in Buffalo this summer. Shooting will begin mid-June with Mario Lopez, his son Dominic, and Tony Danza confirmed, as scouts search for local filming locations. WGRZ
- ➤ Shea’s Buffalo Theatre will host a special production of Rent on May 9 featuring the Starring Buffalo community chorus — selected from hundreds of auditions — with Broadway and local talent joining the performance. WGRZ

- ➤ Multiple Buffalo-area schools paused ELA assessments for grades 3-8 Wednesday after a state computer glitch interrupted testing; BuffSci resumed tests Thursday and districts have until May 15 to finish exams & officials are urging a permanent fix. ABC 7
- ➤ Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, fighting for her FTC reinstatement, spoke last Thursday at Canisius University’s Frank G. Raichle Lecture Series. Her talk, For Cause: On Careers in Public Service and Fighting for Justice, began at 7 p.m. at the Science Commons (Main Street between Jefferson and East Delavan Avenues) and was free. WBFO
- ➤ SUNY Erie and the union for over 100 administrative workers will meet for contract talks today and on May 5. The union has been without a contract for six years and seeks better wages and benefits while college officials say the proposed raise is too high. WBFO
