  • Buffalo Grand owner said his financing deal fell through when the investor (Perry Davis) offered radically different terms, prompting him to seek new funding and plan a meeting with city officials early next week. The hotel has been vacant four years after a fire.  ABC 7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hombre Y Lobo celebrates its 4.5-year anniversary and Cinco de Mayo with a weekend of music, dancing and street-style Mexican eats. The restaurant at 149 Swan Street uses locally sourced ingredients and will host festivities this weekend.  WGRZ
  • Artpark announced that Shakey Graves will perform with special guest Texino on July 22 at its Outdoor Amphitheater. The Austin native joins a busy summer concert lineup with more shows planned.  WGRZ
  • A mural was unveiled Thursday at Eugene V. Debs Hall on the East Side to honor three influential neighborhood advocates, including Yuri Hreshchyshyn, Greg Olma, and Robert J. Sienkiewicz. Max Olma, who attended to remember his father, said the artwork highlights the community's legacy of engagement.  WBFO
  • The Buffalo Zoo opens Destination Dinosaur at 10 a.m. today. The exhibit features life-like, moving animatronic dinosaurs, a dig pit, VR ride, and a daily dinosaur show (free with regular admission) for families to enjoy a fun, educational outing.  ABC 7

  • Federal officials announced $338K in funding for the D'Youville pharmacy lab to upgrade its equipment (the investment is expected to boost research capabilities and improve patient care) as plans for enhancements begin soon.  WGRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local healthcare providers are urging state lawmakers to amend law to protect the 340B program as its federal support ends soon — a change aimed at helping Western New York hospitals keep drug costs low and services available for families.  WBFO

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday night the Sabres took a 2-0 lead against the Bruins in Game 6 of their first-round series with early goals by Alex Tuch and Mattias Samuelsson at Boston, keeping playoff hopes alive. A win will set up Game 7 on Sunday at KeyBank Center.  WGRZ
  • Section VI high school football championships will move to UB's Broadview Stadium after the Bills open their new home this fall (as noted by executive director Mark DiFilippo). The two-day event is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12 and Friday, Nov. 13.  WBFO
  • Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff is a finalist for the Jack Adams Award as he leads his team on its first playoff run in 15 years. The award winner will be announced in June.  WBFO
  • Former Sabres winger Andrew Peters previewed game six against the Bruins on WBEN’s Joe Beamer show, noting the team's chance to clinch a playoff series win in Boston (their first since 2007).  WBEN
