- ➤ Hospice and Palliative Care Buffalo holds its 30th Memorial Walk Sunday, May 17 at 11 a.m. at Terminal B along the waterfront; walkers may take the 5k or one-mile Fun Walk in person or virtually, with fees supporting Essential Care for Children (providing home care to medically complex kids). - ➤ Buffalo State senior teacher candidate Callan Barber was featured in the Buffalo News for her role in a high-impact tutoring partnership with South Buffalo Charter School that is now operating in six local schools, a program expanded by Buffalo State professor Jennifer Reichenberg to boost elementary reading skills. Buffalo State University
- ➤ A grant funds UB Jacobs School’s street medicine training program to help homeless people in urban, suburban and rural areas of Erie and Cattaraugus counties. Medical residents will gain hands-on experience treating patients through the new course. The Buffalo News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Buffalo Harbor State Park will add a spray park, boat launch, restaurant, cafe, retail space, park office, and restrooms by Memorial Day as part of a $47.5 million upgrade (more details on the grand opening will be shared soon). ABC 7

- ➤ Buffalo reached a settlement with the family of firefighter Jason Arno last weekend to settle the wrongful death case. The city will pay $5.9 million in three installments (the first expected in July) pending Buffalo Common Council approval. WGRZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, Catholic Health’s Maternal Health Equity Center at Sisters Hospital is helping high-risk pregnant women overcome racial and language barriers by linking them to support classes and nurse guidance (funded by a two-year City grant). Catholic Health plans to expand the center’s services to neighboring communities soon. ABC 7

- ➤ Speculation is rising about potential Bills prime time games next season ahead of the NFL schedule release on Thursday night. Options include matchups in Foxborough, snowy Green Bay and Los Angeles — possibilities that could feature teams like the Patriots, Rams, Chargers and Bears. WGRZ
