CRIME NEWS

  • Families and friends gathered Wednesday to honor the 10 victims of the Tops Market mass shooting on Jefferson Avenue—marking three years since the tragedy—and state and local leaders attended the ceremony featuring wreath laying, floral tributes, and the reading of the victims’ names.  ABC 7
  • More than 1,000 days after his indictment on May 14, 2022, federal prosecutors said that every day the Tops gunman Payton Gendron stays in jail is a victory as his death penalty trial will not begin jury selection until Jan. 5 at the earliest—while his defense seeks additional delays to avoid the shooting anniversary.  The Buffalo News
  • Buffalo held remembrance ceremonies at City Hall and the 5/14 Honor Space to honor the 10 people killed and three wounded in the Tops Friendly Market mass shooting on May 14, 2022—local leaders urged the community to transform grief into unity and service.  WBEN
  • On May 14, families and friends gathered at Tops on Jefferson Avenue to honor the ten lives lost in the 2022 Buffalo mass shooting as speakers including New York State Attorney General Letitia James offered condolences and a bell rang ten times—Buffalo residents were also asked to leave their porch lights on Wednesday night in tribute.  WGRZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Buffalo finalized the sale of 14 city-owned parcels to the 5/14 Memorial Foundation to complete 18 parcels for a permanent memorial site in East Buffalo. The transfer—approved by Common Council—marks a key step in honoring the 10 Black lives lost in the 2022 Tops shooting and will guide future work on the memorial.  WBEN

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Bills released their 2025 NFL schedule that shows they will start at home against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football on Channel 2 and will play five primetime games — including matchups with the Dolphins and Patriots — this season. They will play their final season at Highmark Stadium before moving to a new facility next season — the schedule also features key games against the Chiefs, Falcons and Jets.  WGRZ
  • The first six seats in the new Buffalo Bills stadium were installed last week and crews have placed the bracket supports for the lower bowl seating—an installation that will take six to seven months to complete as workers add roughly 60,000 seats over the summer and fall. The project remains on schedule to help ensure the stadium is finished by July 2026.  The Buffalo News
