  • Sully's Chowder House, a New England seafood restaurant, is set to open in the former William K’s at Erie Basin Marina at Harbor Walk Buffalo on May 22 at 5 p.m. — Owner Jason Davidson said the venue will welcome walk-ins, offering fresh seafood and live music for summer.  ABC 7
  • Construction on the new Highmark Stadium has exceeded the 30% goal for awarding contracts to minority and women-owned firms, state leaders and project partners announced Tuesday in Orchard Park. The milestone has resulted in over $490 million in contracts and created opportunities for nearly 140 local MWBE firms.  ABC 7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site and Buffalo Choral Arts Society hosted Music and Memory Tuesday to mark the 125th anniversary of the Pan Am Expo. The event — held yesterday at the historic venue — celebrated a notable chapter in local history.  WGRZ
  • Buffalo Naval Park will open new tour spaces on the USS Little Rock in June, after National Grid volunteers installed heavy transformers and restored wiring (making the historic ship easier to explore).  WGRZ
  • Canadian rock band Arkells will perform with The Maine at Outer Harbor at Terminal B on August 15 at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale May 22 at 10 a.m.  WGRZ
  • The Smithsonian Institution partnered with the Buffalo AKG Art Museum for a discussion on the role of mother figures in guiding civic leadership and community life. The event showcased Buffalo-based insights on how these influential figures strengthen local bonds.  WGRZ

  • Buffalo Niagara International Airport will receive $8.7 million in federal funding via an FAA grant to support planned improvements at the facility.  WGRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Buffalo’s East Side, Our Mommie Village has supported mothers with prenatal care, doula services, and wellness programs for mothers of color since January 2025. Founder Shyana Broughton said the center is designed to boost community health and address the high maternal risks faced by Black women.  ABC 7
  • ECMC unveiled a state-of-the-art lab automation system today that cuts blood & urine testing times by 20% and handles nearly 2,500 daily samples to improve patient care.  ABC 7
  • ECMC earned national hospital accreditation after being recognized for its commitment to safe and quality care for patients, underscoring its ongoing mission to meet high standards.  WGRZ
