ECONOMY NEWS

  • Buffalo's waterfront is set to welcome its first Great Lakes cruise ship, Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement as she highlighted the area's shift from an industrial past to a vibrant tourism gateway.  The Buffalo News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Western New Yorkers voted on local school district budgets Tuesday; most measures were approved while some did not pass (including Cuba-Rushford and Grand Island), and updates will be provided as final results are confirmed.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • DPW crews worked on a water line break in the Village of Wilson on Tuesday morning, causing low water pressure, temporary outages and discolored water for some residents. Officials advised reducing water usage while repairs continued and said further updates would follow.  WGRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • AAA of Western and Central New York and local law enforcement warn teen drivers and parents that Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of a high-risk period after data shows more than 30 percent of fatal crashes and one-third of impaired-driving fatalities occur between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  WBFO
  • The VA Western New York Healthcare System announced funding for $6 million in upgrades at Veterans Hospital in Buffalo. The improvements — a carbon dioxide room, water riser replacement, and renovation modifications — aim to enhance care for veterans.  WGRZ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Buffalo’s historic DL&W Train Station is undergoing a major transformation with plans for a sky bridge to KeyBank Center and a new viewing deck on the riverfront; engineers uncovered the station is made of two structures that require extra work, and NFTA officials plan to finish updates by spring 2027.  WGRZ
