- ➤ Buffalo-headquartered M&T Bank became the Bills' third founding partner for the new stadium—set to open in 2026—and celebrated its 40-year support at a rally held at Seneca One. The long-term deal makes M&T the team's Official Bank while the Bills will seek more founding partners before the new stadium is completed. The Buffalo News
- ➤ General Motors will invest nearly $900 million at the Tonawanda Powertrain plant—upgrading machinery, tools, and facilities—to build a new V6 engine and support 870 jobs, including 177 at risk. The sixth generation engine will start in 2027—delivering improved performance, fuel economy, and lower emissions. WBEN

- ➤ Two Buffalo natives Jordan Mackey and Bryce LeMay made a bold fashion statement at Cannes Film Festival—teaming up with Spike Lee to create a custom zoot suit tribute for Malcolm X’s 100th birthday and the film character Shorty from Malcolm X. - ➤ This summer, University at Buffalo’s June in Buffalo festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary with free concerts, lectures and performances in Buffalo. Founded in 1975 by composer Morton Feldman, the festival will feature a talk on June 4 at 10 a.m. and an afternoon performance on June 6 at 2 p.m. at Baird Recital Hall (with a 3½-hour chamber work) and will conclude on June 7 at 6 p.m. at Silo City (showcasing new works by UB composition students). - ➤ Members of UAW Local 774 celebrated GM's announcement of an $888 million investment in the Tonawanda propulsion plant—set to support production of new V-8 engines in trucks and SUVs—and the work is expected to be completed in 2027. ABC 7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A report from NYU’s Center on Race, Inequality and the Law finds that from January 2022 to March 2025, people of color were 32% less likely to be released on parole than white people—this gap is 72% worse than in the previous six years. Attorney Tolu Lawal said the parole board now acts more like a resentencing body and that two state bills will help make parole decisions fairer. WGRZ
- ➤ Congressman Tim Kennedy and Legislator Taisha St. Jean Tard held a press conference Wednesday morning defending federal funds — over $100 million — for the Bailey Avenue Bus Rapid Transit project that will upgrade sidewalks, bus lanes, and stops on the East Side. They warned that parts of a tax bill may risk the funding and urged senators to support the project so it can move forward. WGRZ
