- ➤ Rite Aid will close 68 stores in Western New York on June 4, affecting over 700 employees and reducing local access to medications and vaccines. - ➤ General Motors is investing $888 million in its Tonawanda engine plant to equip the facility for producing sixth-generation V-8 engines for full-size trucks and SUVs. Teachers, union officials and parents expressed concerns over cuts to programs like the Woz Ed kit while some board members defended the measures to balance the budget using fiscal responsibility. - ➤ Buffalo city officials announced a ban on vehicles along the Chippewa Strip (between Delaware Ave and Franklin Street) from 10 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights starting this weekend through Labor Day to reduce crowding and violence.
