COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The YMCA plans to turn the vacant site covering seven acres at 1984 Elmwood Avenue into Camp Swan, a youth recreation hub with features + outdoor pool, barns, a climbing wall and fields. The $7.5 million project will be reviewed by Buffalo’s Planning Board on June 15+ cleanup and construction will follow later this year or early 2026. WBFO
- ➤ Food pantries in Western New York are struggling to feed hungry families as planned federal funding cuts have sharply reduced resources that once covered large food orders while rising costs push more neighbors toward food insecurity. Both Eden North Collins Food Pantry and FeedMore Western New York now seek more community donations and state help—local groups warn the shortfall could worsen the challenge of feeding those in need.
