Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 1st of July.
Good morning, Buffalo.
🏛️ Government
Buffalo officials have not released details on three investigations into late-night car crashes involving an Erie County sheriff’s official, and local media has uncovered much of the story through FOIL requests and tips.
City and county law enforcement are waiting for Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman to take over the case—while records continue to be denied.
🏥 Health
UB students are organizing to fight a bill that will end the federal Grad PLUS program in July 2026—if passed, future health care students will face difficult choices and may have to turn to pricier private loans for their education.
The program currently helps cover full costs for students in medical, dental, and pharmacy fields.
