- ➤ Erie County Sheriff's Office will receive two new Airbus helicopters for over $10 million—one arriving in September and the other scheduled for March—despite losing expected federal grant money that now leaves a gap of more than $4 million for necessary police equipment upgrades. County officials say state and federal funds may cover the shortfall, and they are considering selling one helicopter if the grants do not come through. The Buffalo News
