  • Buffalo residents can explore the free East Side Garden Walk today, a self-guided tour that shows over 100 beautiful gardens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants can pick up a map at MLK Park near Fillmore and North Parade (also available at People's Park on Main Street) to guide their visit.  ABC 7
  • The second annual OneWorld Soccer Tournament kicked off Saturday at Dobson Field with 75 kids from diverse backgrounds playing in a free event. Organizers from the Buffalo Maendeleo Soccer Club and Bridges from Borders said funding cuts may challenge future plans—though they are seeking new resources—while planning to add a girls league.  WBFO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Nearly 8,000 Kaleida Health workers will vote from Tuesday to Thursday on a three-year contract that offers 3% wage raises in the first two years and a 4% raise in the final year along with added retirement benefits—voting will be held at Buffalo General Medical Center's Swift Auditorium, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and Oishei Children's Hospital from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.  The Buffalo News

CRIME NEWS

  • The shooting death of 44-year-old Amanda Thompson on the 600 block of South Ogden Street on July 17 spurred a clash in the mayoral race as candidate James Gardner blamed bail reform laws—while candidate Sean Ryan said the case had nothing to do with reform—as 49-year-old Rickey M. Crouch faces charges including felony murder and violent felony criminal weapon possession.  WGRZ

  • Buffalo’s Elmwood Village hosted the annual FieriCon fundraiser this weekend as dozens dressed up as Guy Fieri and visited Mr. Goodbar, Cole's, Jack Rabbit, Beer Keep and Breezy Burrito. Proceeds from merchandise and drink sales went to Friends of Night People—an organization that provides food, clothing and medical care to neighbors in need.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Erie County Sheriff's Office will receive two new Airbus helicopters for over $10 million—one arriving in September and the other scheduled for March—despite losing expected federal grant money that now leaves a gap of more than $4 million for necessary police equipment upgrades. County officials say state and federal funds may cover the shortfall, and they are considering selling one helicopter if the grants do not come through.  The Buffalo News
  • Buffalo Niagara airport held a full-scale emergency response training drill — held once every three years — to test emergency team coordination and readiness for potential crises.  WGRZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Buffalo Pro Soccer is choosing a new site for its stadium after dropping its first plan near a chemical plant, aiming to start play in 2027 instead of next year. President Peter Marlette said the team is reviewing several city locations, with strong support for a downtown site between KeyBank Center and Sahlen Field—though no final decision has been made.  The Buffalo News
