- ➤ The Galbani Italian Heritage Festival marks its 50th year and begins today on Hertel Avenue in North Buffalo with free admission and a promise of family fun and cultural celebration. - ➤ In 2024, a report showed that every Buffalo-area beach was unsafe for swimming for at least one day, with Woodlawn Beach State Park unsafe on 37 days + local residents had mixed reactions, as some swam anyway while others worried about health risks from polluted waters. WBEN

- ➤ Disability Reporter Emyle Watkins explained how a last-minute budget change moved New York's Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program — from over 600 fiscal intermediaries to one contract with PPL — sparking lawsuits, staff departures and a seven-month transition for roughly a quarter million disabled individuals and aides. Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado has urged the Governor to end PPL's contract as federal hearings and state investigations continue. WBFO
- ➤ Erie County officials are set to transfer 152 acres of the former county home in Alden to the Rich brothers for $1 so they can develop a $40 million enclosed marijuana farm. The Erie County Legislature will review the plan on Thursday — and construction is expected to begin in the fall to build a secure facility for cannabis cultivation, processing and distribution.
