ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • New York State Park Police searched for two missing boaters—Jerome Williams of Buffalo and Natalie Sansivero of Grand Island—after a boat crashed on the Niagara River Wednesday night near the exclusionary zone, and search efforts resumed Thursday morning.  WGRZ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Today, the Buffalo mill, which has operated for nearly 120 years and was known as American Brass, Luvata, and Aurubis, remains under Wieland Group ownership with about 520 workers and union support. Wieland is purchasing new equipment and looks to growth in electronics and data center cooling while managing challenges from high copper prices and potential tariffs — a move that aims to secure the plant’s long-term success.  The Buffalo News

  • Buffalo’s 50th Italian Heritage Festival on Hertel Avenue celebrates local culture with family-friendly events and a new Pellicano’s Marketplace stage—featuring national acts, local talent, and more than 50 vendors. The festival began Friday and continues today with a St. Anthony’s procession at 6 p.m. and headliner Frankie Scinta at 7:30 p.m.—all with free admission.  WBEN
  • At the OLV National Shrine and Basilica in Lackawanna, Pastor Rev. Msgr. David LiPuma said an American Pope has intensified efforts to have Father Baker canonized. Officials plan to meet a canonization postulator in Rome as the annual Father Baker weekend and Pennies to Heaven fundraiser support the Save the Dome campaign—steps that honor his lasting legacy.  WBEN

  • Erie County approved nearly $4M to begin work on transforming the old Westwood Country Club site in Amherst—this project will turn the area into the future Willowdale Park.  The Buffalo News

  • Kaleida Health workers ratified a three-year contract that boosts pay and staffing+ it covers nearly 8,000 health care workers at Buffalo General Medical Center, Oishei Children's Hospital, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, HighPointe on Michigan, DeGraff Medical Park and several community clinics.  The Buffalo News
