- ➤ Ernest Brown, 42, was convicted on Friday of murder and weapons possession for a deadly shooting that occurred on July 22 at about 3 a.m. in Willert Park when police found three victims—31-year-old Devin Lockwood died and two others were treated for injuries. WBEN

- ➤ Buffalo State University’s master of science in data science and analytics program was ranked number 10 among the most affordable in the U.S. by TechGuide, and it graduated 12 students in May. - ➤ The city of Buffalo and its water system manager asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit that claims they misled people when they stopped adding fluoride to the water in June 2015—lawyers say the annual water reports clearly noted the stoppage. Residents argue the reports made a false impression of fluoride levels, and the judge will decide on dismissal after both sides submit more briefs by Aug. 6. The Buffalo News
