  • Agena Puricelli celebrated her 100th birthday with a family party in Lancaster on Sunday, August 3, where photos and memories of her work in Buffalo were shared.   • Officials at the Erie County Fair will welcome visitors from August 7—18 at the Hamburg Fairgrounds and focus on safety using the NYSDOL Ride Safe NY three-step ride inspection process.   • Brothers Ryan and Luke Rich are set to transform a 152-acre abandoned Erie County nursing home campus in Alden into a secured cannabis growing and distribution facility with a planned 57,800-square-foot indoor building. They will begin construction this fall and expect to add over 100 local jobs once the project clears an environmental review — town officials continue to work with investors amid community concerns.  The Buffalo News

  • Lawrence Howard of Amherst said his long-term care insurance premium from Massachusetts Mutual will jump 257% by 2028—his yearly cost rising from $3,181 to about $11,375 as approved increases take effect over the next four years. Many New Yorkers with long-term care policies face similar hikes amid a market in crisis caused by historical mispricing, the state Department of Financial Services said.  The Buffalo News
