- ➤ Willie Henley, a homeless man who swung a bat during a 2020 standoff with Buffalo police, was shot by Officer Karl Schultz and his criminal case was delayed due to mental health rulings—his pretrial conference is set for August 12 as his civil suit against the officers and the City of Buffalo continues. - ➤ Niagara Falls' former chief financial officer for Rapids Theatre pleaded guilty to defrauding Covid relief programs of more than $1.8 million—he admitted misusing funds—and the case is now under investigation. The Buffalo News

- ➤ Property owner Harry Stinson said damage to the Buffalo Grand Hotel has increased since the city declared it abandoned—he said his security team has spent too much time chasing vandals as police do little to help. - ➤ Buffalo began its first charter review in over 25 years when a 13-member commission met Monday to study the city's 470-page charter—a document that sets the rules for local government.
