  • Buffalo will host the 37th annual Taking it to the Streets rally this weekend — community organizations, vendors, and musicians will join to offer hope and resources to residents.  WGRZ
  • A birthday parade in Cheektowaga celebrated 2-year-old Eli Gawlak—who is battling cancer and recently had a bone marrow transplant—as community members including neighbors, firefighters and police drove by to bring the party to his door on Saturday.  ABC 7

  • Buffalo Police are searching for 16-year-old Destiny Keller, last seen in the Broadway and Gatchell Street area while wearing a black hoodie, white t-shirt and blue/green pajama pants—she is about 5'7" with red/pink hair and anyone with information is asked to call 911.  WGRZ
  • Niagara County DA Brian D. Seaman said Amber N. Clark, who was under the influence on Sept 24 and hit an e-bicyclist near Niagara Falls, was sentenced on August 6 to 1-3 years in prison + Joshua Myles-Jones, who hit a pedestrian on Payne Avenue in North Tonawanda on April 17, pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.  WGRZ
  • Erie County Sheriff John Garcia defended Chief DJ Granville after he pleaded guilty to two traffic misdemeanors for crashing a county truck into parked cars on Buffalo’s West Side last year, saying his poor judgment should not erase a career that saved lives — while Niagara Councilmember David Rivera calls for a state investigation into police procedures.  WBFO

  • Thousands attended the Puerto Rican, Hispanic Day Parade on Niagara Street today as food, music, and cultural displays brought energy to downtown Buffalo—continuing the festival's vibrant tradition.  WGRZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge ruled on August 16th that Providence Farm Collective will keep receiving its federal grant money—allowing its Incubator Farm Program to train immigrants and refugees in farming and boost food access in Buffalo—while its lawsuit against the USDA continues.  WBFO
  • The VA's Office of Inspector General reported that 139 facilities now face over 4,400 severe staffing shortages for fiscal year 2025 ending Sept. 30—up from more than 2,900 shortages last year. The Western New York Healthcare System in Buffalo recorded four clinical shortages and six nonclinical gaps while other regions reported even higher shortages.  The Buffalo News

  • The new Buffalo Bills stadium is 61% complete—as crews finish interior work on concourses, suites, locker rooms and install exterior panels—and site work on parking lots, entry gates and Family Circle continues to keep the project on schedule for a July finish next year.  The Buffalo News
