CRIME NEWS

  • Two Town of Tonawanda men were arrested on federal narcotics charges, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo said — they were under investigation for drug trafficking.  The Buffalo News
  • Buffalo Police are asking for help to find missing teen Antonyah Wilson (15) who was last seen on Shepard Street in Buffalo and may be in the French Road area in Cheektowaga; she is described as a Black female with red hair, brown eyes, a height of 5'9 and weighing about 150 lbs.  WGRZ
  • Rickey Crouch—accused of killing Amanda Thompson, a mother of four—appeared in court on Wednesday facing nine charges including first-degree murder and was placed on suicide watch after arriving with a sling on his arm while family members were in attendance.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Buffalo Common Councilmember David Rivera said Tuesday he is considering issuing a subpoena to the Buffalo Police to explain its handling of the DJ Granville incident, in which a county pickup crashed into parked cars in April 2024 and led to five officers being placed on leave. He said slow responses and rescheduled oversight meetings have raised concerns—prompting calls for accountability as the investigation moves forward.  WBFO
  • Ten Western New York communities spent $1.54 million since 2021 to pay lobbyists in Albany for local representation. The spending — led by Buffalo, Niagara County, and Orleans County — has raised debate over using taxpayer money for state influence.  The Buffalo News
  • Buffalo City Hall faces a bond battle as Mayor Chris Scanlon requested $110 million for capital projects but Comptroller Barbara Miller-Williams holds off on borrowing to protect the city's financial future (delaying work on Malsch Street in the North District). Councilman Joe Golombek said legal action may be announced soon (the delay could affect loans for roads, schools and other infrastructure).  WBEN

  • The Buffalo Bills will start their farewell season with a home opener on Sunday at Highmark Stadium. Team officials advise fans to plan ahead for fewer parking spaces as new metal detectors and commemorative items — including a drone-powered halftime show, coins, and a farewell patch — promise a memorable game.  WGRZ
