- ➤ Attorney General Letitia James announced a settlement today that will require Buffalo landlord Farhad Raiszadeh and his companies to fix lead paint hazards in many rental properties and pay $515,000 in fines — the agreement filed in Erie County Supreme Court also sets new oversight rules to ensure safe conditions for children and families. The plan mandates proper inspections, hazard remediation, and tenant relief measures in low-income neighborhoods. WBEN
- ➤ New York Attorney General Letitia James announced a $515,000 settlement on Friday with out-of-town landlords for lead poisoning in 78 rental properties on Buffalo’s East Side — the deal allocates $70,000 for a tenant relief fund and $445,000 for inspections and repairs and requires that all lead-related code violations be fixed within 60 days. At least 14 children were poisoned by lead between 2017 and March, and the landlords are barred from selling the homes until they are certified as lead-safe. The Buffalo News
