- ➤ Deaf awareness week kicks off today in Buffalo—bringing focus to access and understanding within the local community. WGRZ

- ➤ Buffalo State faculty, students and alumni starred in DREAMGIRLS at Shea’s 710 on Friday night in a sold-out show at the newly renovated theater. The musical runs through September 28—Wednesday, September 24 will feature a talkback with Black Sign Language interpretation. Buffalo State University
- ➤ Grammy award winning artist Joss Stone will perform at the UB Center for the Arts on October 1 — part of her Less Is More tour. WGRZ
- ➤ Comedian Jeff Dunham will perform at KeyBank Center in Buffalo on Feb. 14 as part of his new 'Artificial Intelligence' tour — pre-sale tickets start at 10 a.m. EST on Sept. 26 and general sales will begin at 10 a.m. on Sept. 29. WGRZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ D'Youville University is seeking city approvals from the Buffalo Planning Board for a new College of Osteopathic Medicine in downtown Buffalo and a new graduate residence hall on the West Side. The projects are expected to boost local healthcare training and fill a critical housing gap for students — university and developer officials have submitted detailed plans. The Buffalo News
- ➤ Outgoing University at Buffalo President Satish Tripathi announced he will step down in July after nearly 15 years of service. He is known for his kind leadership – he led projects that moved the medical school downtown and boosted research to help our community. The Buffalo News
- ➤ UB is hosting its largest job and internship fair today from 12-4 p.m. at Alumni Arena—3,000 STEAM students will meet with over 100 local and national employers. Roswell Park was named on lists by Forbes and Newsweek while gas prices in Buffalo dropped one cent to average $3.20 a gallon, compared to $3.23 statewide. WBEN
- ➤ Buffalo State’s Master of Public Administration and Nonprofit Management program earned accreditation from NASPAA — the global standard for public service education — making it the only in-person accredited MPA program in the area. The university will celebrate this milestone on Thursday, September 25 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. in the lobby of E.H. Butler Library with faculty, students, and community members. Buffalo State University
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The DEC announced an agreement with AG Letitia James and the Buffalo Sewer Authority to improve water quality along the Niagara River and its tributaries. Under the plan, BSA will update its sewer system with $1B in upgrades over 15 years, pay a $20,000 fine, and add a $100,000 project for playground equipment & education. ABC 7
- ➤ Some trees in Western New York are showing fall colors early due to a hot, dry summer. Meteorologist Andy Parker said Beech and Birch trees show stress—crinkled and browned leaves that may lead to brighter colors later. WBEN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Hochul visited the Tonawanda Police Department Monday to highlight over $19 million in state funds modernizing law enforcement equipment including a 3D scanner—virtual reality training tools and upgraded headsets for SWAT. The investment is part of a $127 million state package that improved officer safety and operations across Western New York. WBEN

- ➤ Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was nominated for the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Player of the Week award after he led his team to a win over the Dolphins by completing 22 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns—he earned a 134.1 passer rating in the game. Fans will vote on his performance until September 24 at 3 p.m. EST and if he wins, a $2,000 donation will be made to local food bank FeedMore WNY. WGRZ
