  • Four community organizations are appealing the dismissal of a lawsuit that urged the City of Buffalo to speed up rental housing inspections—aimed at shielding children from lead poisoning. The groups argue that delayed inspections risk health and call for the city to act faster.  The Buffalo News
  • Today, Buffalo Bills players visited schools in Western New York to run drills for a unified flag football program and try trade skills at McKinley High School. They also joined a Huddle for Hunger event that taught students about healthy eating — showing strong local support.  WGRZ

  • A winning TAKE5 ticket sold on Oct. 6 at LHP Food Mart in Buffalo won $31,149, the New York Lottery said—its drawn numbers were 07, 10, 12, 32, and 33.  WGRZ
  • Gyuzo Japanese BBQ will open later this year at Walden Galleria to replace Santora's Pizza Pub & Grill — it offers a self-serve dining experience where you can grill your own meats. Dr. Mark J. Scott is leaving the John R. Oishei Foundation to start the Great Lakes Innovation District for Economic Empowerment in Niagara Falls, and Hilbert College is launching an accelerated Master’s in Cybersecurity Administration.  WBEN
  • Costco filed an off-premises beer license application to allow beer sales at its Amherst store—this move brings the retailer one step closer to opening its new location.  The Buffalo News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Main Street in Buffalo is closed to vehicles between Huron and Mohawk Streets until further notice because of emergency shoring of a building—the east sidewalk is also closed to pedestrians while NFTA Metro service runs as scheduled and drivers are advised to use alternate routes.  ABC 7
  • Governor Kathy Hochul announced the completion of West Side Homes—a $23 million affordable housing project in Buffalo that built 11 new buildings creating 49 apartments, including 16 that offer supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness and a 15-unit all-electric building at 625 West Avenue.  WGRZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • ARC Building Partners will demolish the old Highmark Stadium next summer after the Bills move to their new $2 billion facility next year — the project will take about one year and will include recycling old materials and selling stadium memorabilia. This work follows decades of the stadium serving as home for the team.  ABC 7
  • The Bills will face the Patriots on Sunday Night Football without seven players due to injuries including Ed Oliver’s ankle injury and Dorian Williams’ knee injury. The team signed linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo from the practice squad and elevated Zion Logue and Phidarian Mathis—while some players practiced in a limited way ahead of the game.  WGRZ
  • Today, the Buffalo Bills and NFTA revealed plans for a new Transportation Hub near the new Highmark Stadium to ease game day travel. The hub at Abbott Road and Southwestern Boulevard in Orchard Park will offer 650 square foot enclosed space and 2,500 square foot covered canopy — designed to streamline bus boarding for fans and workers.  ABC 7
