- ➤ Thirty-five women veterans from the Buffalo Niagara chapter completed the first all-women Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.—they visited memorials including the World War II Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery and received a hero’s welcome at home as organizers planned another flight for Veterans Day. - ➤ This Saturday, visitors will have limited access to cross the new pedestrian bridge—over I-190—to see the ongoing $200 million transformation of Ralph Wilson Centennial park on Buffalo's waterfront. - ➤ National Fuel forecasted a 16% rise in winter heating bills, and the average bill is estimated to be about $677 for the season from November through March — the increase is due to normal winter temperatures, rate adjustments, and a weak La Niña. - ➤ Sumitomo has sold its Tonawanda plant to Hwa Fong Rubber less than a year after its abrupt closure, and the new owner is expected to create up to 150 jobs by January. - ➤ Erie County clinics in Buffalo filled up quickly after Governor Hochul’s emergency order let pharmacists and doctors write vaccine prescriptions, even as many states tightened COVID vaccine access. - ➤ 716 Sports Complex LLC is proposing to develop a multi-sports complex, a five-story hotel, and a mixed-use building on 21 acres of former Buffalo Gun Club land along Maple Road in Amherst, and its project review is scheduled for Oct. 16.
