  • Buffalo Bills have met their workforce inclusion targets by involving at least 15% minority-owned and 15% women-owned businesses in the stadium demo — they will now aim to include 6% military veteran and service-disabled businesses in upcoming projects.  The Buffalo News
  • Buffalo Construction Consultants from Cheektowaga was hired by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation to manage the future Great Lakes cruise ship terminal at Outer Harbor for over $920,000—construction will begin next year. Fifteen startups began the 43North semi-finals at Seneca One with eight advancing and a panel of 30 investors judging the finalists—meanwhile, a circa-1910 double sold for $308,000 and Sabres tickets for tonight are available at bargain prices.  WBEN

  • Buffalo’s Martin House received 12 original stained glass windows—bringing the site one step closer to full restoration.  WGRZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • National Grid said its more than 600,000 upstate New York customers could pay 10% more for natural gas heating this winter due to rising supply costs—this increase may add an average of $66 to bills from November through March. The company said it offers customer assistance programs and energy-saving tips online.  Spectrum News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Buffalo State announced it welcomed 1,293 undergraduate freshmen (up 3.7% from last year) and received over 27,000 applications (the highest in its history) this fall.  The Buffalo News

  • Erie County Harbor Development Corp awarded a nearly $1 million contract to Buffalo Construction Consultants+ the eight-year-old firm was chosen to build the Outer Harbor cruise ship terminal as it has won several complex projects across the region.  The Buffalo News
  • National Fuel’s projected 16% heating bill increase has led Erie County residents to join HEAP outreach sessions on Buffalo’s Beck Street—nearly 30 people signed up as the program, set to open November 3rd, aims to help manage rising energy costs. Local officials and volunteers stressed that HEAP is crucial for those on fixed incomes preparing for winter.  ABC 7
  • Erie County is asking for more community input on the future Buffalo Bills stadium—officials plan more evening meetings in Buffalo—to increase participation after no one spoke during Tuesday's public comment period.  Spectrum News
  • Route 219 South reopened two weeks ahead of schedule after being closed in September for a new roundabout. Local officials say the new design + improved traffic flow will help drivers.  WGRZ

  • The Sabres clinched their first win of the season by beating the Ottawa Senators 8-4 on Wednesday night as Jack Quinn scored twice including one shot that missed the net but still went in—teammates added power-play and short-handed goals to break a three-game losing streak.  WGRZ
