- ➤ Local artist Rio Mansour, owner of Splash on Canvas, held his first art show this week in a Williamsville housing development after teaching Healing Art classes to elderly residents since 2018. The residents showcased works made with charcoal & acrylic for friends and family. WGRZ
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Early Monday morning, an outage at Amazon Web Services affected major online services in Buffalo, including banking sites—video games among others. By 6:00 a.m., Amazon reported recovery was underway—working toward full resolution. ABC 7
- ➤ Union leaders have called for a boycott of the Hyatt Regency in downtown Buffalo until the hotel reaches a new contract that reinstates fired workers—Luke Sills and others say the dispute started after workers began organizing last summer. Local groups including the IBEW and officials support the boycott as they push for fair treatment from hotel management. WBEN

- ➤ The Buffalo Diocese’s $274 million plan to exit Chapter 11 bankruptcy will likely include a commitment to create a public repository of abuse-related documents — a provision that may disclose secret files on abusive priests — as part of its settlement. The Buffalo News

- ➤ Bornhava in Amherst, led by Dr. Shannon Karcher, risks losing $1 million in federal funds on November 1 which could force deep cuts to services for 84 special needs students—one-third of its $3 million budget depends on this money. The center warned that without the funds, its programs and staff would suffer severe reductions. WBEN
- ➤ Buffalo will host the 2026 National Talent Attraction Summit in April at several downtown venues where government, business, and nonprofit leaders will meet to discuss ways to recruit and keep skilled workers — the event follows a year-long bid led by Invest Buffalo Niagara and partners. WGRZ

- ➤ ECMC and UB will use state funds to upgrade their electronic records and build a Community Healthcare Pavilion and Learning Center on the East Side—UB officials call the project a turning point for local health care. - ➤ Developers will build the Pan-American Square Apartments—named with a nod to the Pan American Exposition—near the Buffalo World's Fair site, with 150 affordable and supportive housing units set across three connected buildings on a narrow former railroad corridor from Delaware Avenue to Colvin Boulevard. - ➤ The Buffalo Bills filed a permit application at a Monday night board meeting to hold a parade in East Aurora for the premiere of their Hallmark Channel Christmas movie Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story on November 13th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. If approved, the parade will move the movie cast and players from a VIP reception to the Aurora Theatre along Pine and Main Streets — the plan is now under review.
