COMMUNITY NEWS

  • This weekend, the Explore & More Children's Museum at Canalside hosted its annual Halloween Spooktacular where staff, kids and parents dressed in costumes and enjoyed trick-or-treating on every floor—an event that delighted visitors. The museum will hold additional trick-or-treating on Halloween from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—giving families one more chance to celebrate the holiday.  ABC 7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Toys 'R' Us announced on Oct 16 it will open 30 new stores for the holiday season, including one pop-up shop at Walden Galleria in Western New York—nine pop-ups are already open. The company is reviving its brick-and-mortar stores to meet growing family demand.  WGRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Cyclenation brought together local teams at the Buffalo Bills fieldhouse to cycle for heart and brain health—offering CPR demonstrations and educational resources.  WGRZ
  • Rural hospitals in Western New York have long faced challenges like stagnant patient populations, unfavorable payer mixes, recruiting issues and aging facilities — and they worry that upcoming federal Medicaid cuts will further strain services.  The Buffalo News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Buffalo Bills legend Steve Tasker advanced in the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection process after a second reduction vote and is now one of 34 players under consideration; the vote will narrow the group to nine semifinalists in about four weeks—three of whom will be chosen for next August's induction in Canton.  WGRZ
  • The Bills activated rookie Maxwell Hairston from injured reserve after he recovered from a knee injury and elevated safety Jordan Poyer and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips from the practice squad — moves that aim to strengthen the team’s defense for upcoming games. Hairston, who has returned to practice this week, may soon make his NFL debut.  WGRZ
  • The Bills beat the Panthers 40–9 last Sunday in Orchard Park and eased stress on coach Sean McDermott after two losses while James Cook rushed for a career-best 216 yards—his highest since 1976. The team will face the Chiefs next Sunday as they aim to prove they are back in strong form.  WGRZ
