COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hyde Park rink will bring back public skating for the first time in at least ten years on Veterans Day from 12 to 2 p.m.—and on the Saturday after Thanksgiving from 7 to 9 p.m. Local residents will have a new chance to skate and enjoy this outdoor event.  WGRZ
  • Residents in Central Park are worried about a nearly $20 million project at 2700 Main Street that will tear down a vacant three-story building and replace it with a 65,520-square-foot apartment complex of 80 units for DePaul’s clients. The Central Park Homeowners Association says the new building is too large while DePaul promises to avoid leaving an empty structure on Main Street — the project review began on Nov. 3 at the Buffalo Planning Board.  WBEN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hofbrauhaus Buffalo will host its annual Christkindlmarkt starting Nov. 21 at 190 Scott Street each weekend until Dec. 21 — the market will feature handcrafted gifts, treats, live music, and local artisan vendors with surprises for families.  WGRZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • D'Youville University and Uniland Development Co. are at odds with local neighbors over balcony designs in a proposed student-housing project on Buffalo’s West Side — the dispute centers on key design details.  The Buffalo News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utility companies in Buffalo are urging residents to call NYSEG for manual enrollment in the Energy Assistance Program — a backup plan as HEAP applications have been delayed by the government shutdown and lack of federal funding. National Fuel is also offering help through its Neighbor for Neighbor Heat Fund for eligible customers.  ABC 7
  • Today, a boil water advisory is in effect in parts of the Town of Boston due to a water main break causing pressure loss near May Drive and Boston State Road extending south to Trevett Road and Fowler Road—workers are repairing the main and will disinfect the system before service is restored.  ABC 7

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Highmark Stadium on Sunday, the Buffalo Bills earned a 28 to 21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs that improved their record to 6 to 2 and dropped Kansas City to 5 to 4. Bills fans said they were glad to see strong play on both offense and defense since the bye week — they hope this win builds momentum heading into next Sunday's game in Miami.  WBEN
  • Bills fans can donate $10 or more to Oishei Children's Hospital or Dion's Dreamers foundation for a chance to win a suite experience from Dion Dawkins — the donation also aids local charities.  WGRZ
  • Therese Forton-Barnes has been a Bills fan for more than six decades—she was named the Bills Fan of the Year for her charity work with the Water Buffalo Club 716.  WGRZ
  • The Bills defense held off Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in a 28–21 loss on Sunday in Buffalo—Mahomes completed 15 of 34 passes for 250 yards with an interception—and Bills quarterback Josh Allen shined with 273 passing yards and three touchdowns.  Spectrum News
  • The Buffalo Sabres are hosting the Utah Mammoth today at 7 p.m. EST after a 4-3 shootout win over the Washington Capitals — standout player Tage Thompson recorded five goals and five assists — as the team looks to extend its home momentum.  WGRZ
