  • On Saturday morning, Lackawanna hosted its annual Veterans Appreciation Parade that honored military members from past and present—recognizing their service.  WGRZ
  • Volunteers planted trees at Unity Island Park to improve habitat and beautify the waterfront. Groups unloaded, transported, and installed plants—efforts that add natural beauty to the local area.  WGRZ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wayland Brewing is partnering with Buffalo Bros Burgers to open a new taproom and restaurant in Lancaster inside the former Lilly Belle Meads space — it will serve Wayland’s craft beers and Buffalo Bros signature burgers with indoor and outdoor seating as hiring begins early next year and the venue opens next spring.  WGRZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fowler’s Chocolates is hosting its 22nd Annual Factory Tour where visitors can see how treats are made and try samples—this event lets locals get an inside look at the chocolate process.  WGRZ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation released 1,000 lake sturgeon, each eight inches long, into Cattaraugus Creek as the first step in a 25-year plan to restore wild populations in Lake Erie’s ecosystem—officials say the fish will acclimate before moving to Lake Erie and eventually return to spawn by 2040.  WGRZ
  • For the sixth year, Stryker the harbor seal at the Aquarium of Niagara predicted that winter will be frigid after a record of five correct forecasts. Third graders from Harry F. Abate Elementary School attended the event & joined STEM activities that explained how climate change affects local wildlife.  WGRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held its annual Rock the Red Carpet Gala that drew hundreds and raised funds for research and to honor those who support people living with the disease—attendees helped boost hope for better treatments.  WGRZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Four Bills defensive players—A.J. Epenesa, Shaq Thompson, Christian Benford, and Sam Franklin—did not practice on Thursday because of injuries ahead of today's game against the Dolphins in Miami, and the team limited others while promoting Phidarian Mathis to the active roster.  WGRZ
  • Team USA beat Team Canada at KeyBank Center in downtown Buffalo—where a hometown talent made a key play during the game.  WGRZ
  • Carolina Hurricanes beat the Buffalo Sabres 6-3 on Saturday night — stars Andrei Svechnikov, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Charles Alexis Legault each scored a goal and an assist to give Carolina its third win in a row. Buffalo lost two games in a row in regulation as key players were missing.  WGRZ
  • Bills GM Brandon Beane said the team did not make a trade deal at the NFL deadline because he explained the process is not like fantasy football—he stressed that real moves require real decisions.  WGRZ
