COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Buffalo Dream Center is gearing up for its annual Boxes of Love program that will deliver over 1 million pounds of food along with more than 5,000 toys and presents to over 3,500 families in early December. Packing begins November 19, and a Christmas Eve lasagna dinner will serve over 300 homeless people — volunteers and donations are still needed — to keep the program running.  WBEN
  • Buffalo Bills staff and Hallmark actors packed 600 Thanksgiving totes with turkey, pies, and all the fixings on Monday at the FeedMore WNY warehouse to help families facing food insecurity. The event, part of the Bills' annual Thanksgiving Blitz that will deliver over 5,000 meals across Western New York, strengthened local community support — officials said.  ABC 7

  • A large silver maple tree fell outside Rhonda Mathiebe's home on Winston Road on Sunday— it nearly hit her car but no one was injured as she had reported concerns days earlier and officials inspected the tree within the usual time.  ABC 7

  • Mineo and Sapio, a Buffalo sausage maker, was acquired by Ray Berry, the former CEO of Ted’s Hot Dogs, with all 15 employees kept & Benderson Development is preparing an 8,000 square foot expansion at a Hamburg plaza while Calspan will add 6,000 square feet to its Cheektowaga headquarters as gas prices remained at $3.17 per gallon.  WBEN

CRIME NEWS

  • A local Buffalo woman had her SNAP account emptied by cyber thieves nine hours after checking that her $587 benefit was posted on November 14—Trina Burruss of United Way of Buffalo and Erie County advised freezing funds to protect against more thefts as benefits resume.  WBEN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Elim Christian Fellowship announced the passing of Bishop T. Anthony Bronner on Facebook and local leaders including Acting Mayor Christ Scanlon expressed their condolences—emphasizing his role in guiding families and shaping the community's spiritual life. Church members and neighbors are mourning his loss while details on memorial opportunities are still to be shared—leaving a lasting impact on the area.  ABC 7
  • Buffalo’s Hofbrauhaus will host the Christkindlmarkt market season starting Friday, November 21st, and it will run every weekend until December 21st—bringing festive holiday crafts and treats to local visitors.  WGRZ

  • The NYSDOT announced a series of open-house listening sessions for the Kensington Expressway project as it reworks plans after a court ordered a full Environmental Impact Statement, and the first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Schiller Park Senior Center in Buffalo & officials encourage community input for future planning.  WGRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Meredith Roberts, a 17-year-old from North Tonawanda, was rushed to hospital in late October with acute liver failure from Wilson's disease and received a cadaver liver transplant that gave her a lifesaving chance at recovery — her family expressed deep gratitude for the donor and community support as she now looks forward to returning to her normal activities.  ABC 7
