COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The SPCA Serving Erie County is hosting a pet food drive on Friday, November 21 to collect unopened, unexpired dry dog and cat food at drop-off sites including its drive-through at 300 Harlem Rd.—Chief Communication Officer Gina Lattuca said the need has surged from 20-30 thousand meals a month to more than 60 thousand.  WBEN

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Anderson Gallery exhibit shows sculptures, photos and collages that tell what women went through in old asylums used for mental health care — a display that reveals a tough part of our past.  WGRZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Billionaire philanthropist Tom Golisano is turning the old Buffalo News building into a new educational campus with a forum for business talks, classrooms on the fourth floor, and a cafe on the fifth. Classes will start next fall as he plans to enroll 400 students and create 80 jobs over the next four years (city officials are finalizing the plans).  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Buffalo's Office of Gun Violence Prevention will host a public roundtable on public safety today at Northland Workforce Training Center from 5 to 7 p.m.—city leaders and community groups will meet to discuss ways to improve victim support and gun violence prevention.  WBFO
  • The Army Corps of Engineers is repairing the southern breakwater at Buffalo Outer Harbor — heavy winters weakened the structure and officials expect the repairs to improve harbor safety.  WGRZ
  • New York is granting nearly $66M to seven communities, including Buffalo & Lockport, to replace lead service lines and upgrade drinking water systems. The funding targets historically disadvantaged areas as part of efforts to ensure every family has access to clean water.  WGRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Buffalo Medical Group will close its clinical labs at the end of December due to lower insurance payments, affecting 22 employees across its four sites in Western New York. Patients will receive letters to transfer their records to another lab + staff will be offered retraining for other roles within the group.  WGRZ
  • Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center unveiled the new EDDY Mobile Breast and Prostate Cancer Screening Center, a unit funded in part by Governor Hochul and New York State to bring early detection services to underserved communities. The mobile unit will begin service in December in Buffalo and Niagara Falls — offering high-risk individuals easier access to state-of-the-art screening.  ABC 7

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Buffalo Catholic Dioceses has agreed to sell three local churches—details about the buyer and timeline have not yet been provided.  WGRZ
  • After being stalled for over a year—developer Nick Sinatra said he will re-start construction on the delayed Heritage Point project in the next few weeks as he finalizes financing for the $45 million-plus Canalside development. The project will include 64 apartments, office and retail space and is expected to be move‑in ready by late 2026 or early 2027—adding a key residential option for the area.  WBEN

  • Josh Allen won his 17th AFC Offensive Player of the Week award after a Sunday win against the Buccaneers, where he passed for 317 yards, threw three touchdowns and ran for three more. He became the only quarterback to record multiple games with three passing and three rushing scores and tied Cam Newton with his 75th career rushing touchdown.  WGRZ
