  • The Mastrangelo family is collecting toys for Oishei Children's Hospital with help from over twenty local small businesses—expecting hundreds of toys by December 15 to brighten the holidays for young patients.   • Pet Supplies Plus will fully fund relocations for sheltered pets at the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter and host holiday fundraisers—supporting local pet care efforts.  WGRZ

  • Longtime WBEN news anchor and reporter Mark Leitner died at 80 in Florida after battling illness. He had a long career anchoring newscasts and reporting since the 1980s—leaving behind his wife Suzanne and two adult children.  WBEN
  • People Inc. announced plans to buy and fix up the old DeGraff Memorial Hospital inpatient tower in North Tonawanda into a mixed-use space with up to 80 affordable senior apartments, a training center, and a program for people with disabilities.   • Tops Friendly Markets and Feedmore WNY have joined forces through the Tops Fresh Recovery program to rescue safe, nutritious food that can no longer be sold and deliver it to local pantries amid rising need. HEALTH NEWS

  • Fans originally called for a $17 donation to support the hospital in memory of Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen's grandmother—five years later, the Patricia Allen Fund has raised about $15.7 million for the only stand-alone children’s hospital in the state.  The Buffalo News
  • Roswell Park helped create ziftomenib, an oral pill that the FDA approved on November 13 for adults with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia—early trials showed some patients reached remission even after several treatments. The breakthrough offers a new treatment option for older adults with few alternatives.  WGRZ
