  • Jewish Family Services of WNY unveiled its redesigned headquarters at 70 Barker Street in Buffalo after a $2.4 million renovation that modernized 17,200 sqft of offices and expanded the childcare center to better serve local residents.  WBEN
  • A Code Blue alert triggered shelter services as temperatures fell below freezing; the Buffalo City Mission provided overnight refuge at 100 East Tupper Street from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, while bus tickets for transport were available at 181 Ellicott Street from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  WGRZ
  • Western New York holiday markets welcome locals this weekend with family-friendly events at RiverWorks and Richardson Complex, while the Lumber City Holiday Market runs from Black Friday through Dec. 20 in North Tonawanda.   • The Bills began selling Highmark Stadium seats last week, charging $550 or $650 before shipping, and Erie County expects net proceeds between $500,000 and over $1 million; the county will eventually split revenue 50&50 with CollectibleXchange after expenses are recouped.  WBEN

  • Buffalo residents embrace winter with the traditional Tom and Jerry cocktail served at The Place on Lexington Avenue, celebrating an 80-year-old custom. Visit Buffalo maps 15 local taverns offering this must-try holiday drink.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents near the Amigone crematory in Tonawanda reported seeing smoke on Thursday during tests of a pollution control device (no cremations occurred) and officials said an inspection will be required before operations resume.  ABC 7
  • NYSDOT said (weather permitting) one lane of the southbound I-190 bridge reopened today over Niagara Falls Blvd after emergency repairs from a truck collision last month. The agency also reopened the Porter/Packard Road on-ramps while the second lane remains closed for permanent repairs.  WBEN

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • McGuire Development will convert Buffalo’s historic Dun Building on Pearl Street—built 130 years ago as the city’s first office skyscraper—into a mixed-use, residential-focused project. Two months after purchasing the landmark, the development will bring fresh living spaces to downtown.  The Buffalo News

  • Buffalo Bills tackle Dion Dawkins was named his team's nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for the fourth season. His foundation, Dion's Dreamers, supports kids in underserved areas and he received the key to the city last month + his work benefits families.  Spectrum News
