  • The Independent Health Foundation offers a 25-dollar Family Party Pack at select Tops Friendly Markets so families can celebrate New Year's Eve at home with festive supplies and a free online show starting Dec. 31. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Oishei Children’s Hospital.  ABC 7

  • Yesterday, families in Buffalo began celebrating Kwanzaa with a seven-day festival as the Buffalo Kwanzaa Committee raised the Pan-African flag at City Hall, and residents attended free festivities at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts (doors open at 6 p.m.).  WGRZ
  • The Aquarium of Niagara brightens the post-holiday season as it hosts scavenger hunts, crafts + hands-on activities designed to teach kids how animals adapt to winter weather.  WGRZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Hochul signed a law today that will require non-skippable warning labels on addictive social media features to help combat teen mental health issues. Lawmakers say the advisory messages are modeled after warnings on tobacco and alcohol and expect the labels to encourage healthier social media habits statewide.  WGRZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Buffalo residents may see more flu cases as New York State recorded over 71,000 positive tests in the week ending Dec. 20. Health officials advise getting vaccinated & seeking care if symptoms develop.  ABC 7
  • New York State's health department reported a record 71,000 flu cases in one week, with over 5,000 in WNY + officials are monitoring the situation as the flu season remains active.  WGRZ

  • Bills head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media ahead of Sunday's game during a press conference, marking a brief update on the team's outlook.  WGRZ
